When I began making work in North Carolina, I wondered what would be my subject for inspiration. I used the teapot as a reference to the traditions of this region. My teapots are sculptural refernces to the teapot as a traditional local form. These sculptures have titles derived from the names of belly dancers because the sculptures imply movement and sensuality. These teapots are made of stoneware and single fired to cone 6. They are finished with concrete stain and sealer. None are meant to be functional.
